Careers Advice

Various careers advice services work with the school to support and give advice to pupils about colleges and courses.

The school will, where appropriate, buy in to services through EDT or other local providers to ensure impartial careers education, advice and guidance is offered at Woodlane.  Woodlane works with the following providers to enhance our Careers Education, Information and Guidance:

  • Compass,
  • Let Me Play,
  • Careers South West (Investor in Careers)

Our careers adviser delivers group sessions, interviews the pupils and supports within PSCHE lessons. The school also invites other professionals and individuals with experience to present to pupils and provide additional information about future career options.

The school, in partnership with the careers adviser, will ensure pupils are choosing appropriate courses and provide advice as to what results they will need to reach their vocational goals. The school currently has a member of staff completing the Level 4 Careers Advisor training and support is offered widely, but particularly with the Year 11 cohort.

A Next Steps Evening and coffee morning will be run by the school in the Autumn Term to provide information and advice around pupils options. Parents and carers are encouraged to contact the school discuss their child’s options when leaving school or if they have any questions. Any decisions should be communicated through the school annual review process or parents and carers can go direct to the SEN Keyworker.

Contact Miss Blinco (Careers Leader) or Miss Corless (Assistant Head) if you need further information on 0208 743 5668 or email admin@woodlane.lbhf.sch.uk.
