Parent Workshops

At Woodlane, we believe that pupils achieve the best outcomes when there is a strong and effective partnership between home and school. Throughout the year, we offer a range of parent workshops designed to provide families with practical strategies, information and resources to support their child's learning, development and wellbeing.

Our workshops provide opportunities for parents and carers to learn alongside school staff and specialist professionals, gain a greater understanding of our approaches, and share experiences with other families.

Workshop topics may include:

  • Speech, Language and Communication
  • Reading, Literacy and Phonics
  • Mathematics
  • Occupational Therapy and Motor Skills
  • Sensory Processing and Regulation
  • Zones of Regulation
  • Online Safety and Digital Wellbeing
  • Relationships, Health and Personal Development
  • Preparing for Adulthood
  • Supporting Independence at Home
  • Cooking and Life Skills
  • Key Stage 4 Qualifications and Accreditation Pathways

The benefits of our workshops

Our workshops help parents and carers to:

  • Develop practical strategies to support learning at home.
  • Gain a better understanding of their child's strengths and needs.
  • Learn about specialist approaches used within school.
  • Support their child's communication, independence and wellbeing.
  • Build confidence in supporting learning and development at home.
  • Strengthen home-school communication and partnership working.

The programme of workshops is reviewed annually to ensure it reflects the needs of our pupils and families. Additional sessions may be offered in response to parent feedback, emerging needs or new areas of school development. We recognise the invaluable role that parents and carers play in their child's success and encourage families to attend workshops whenever possible. We also welcome suggestions for future topics to help ensure our programme continues to meet the needs of our school community.
