Respond’s Woodlane School Therapy Service offers a range of therapeutic services to young people. Our school therapy service aims to provide a whole school approach offering support and advice to children and young people, parents/carers and school staff. We offer a school-based therapeutic service, allowing our therapists to see children and their families in the safety of a familiar environment. As schools are often at the heart of local communities we are also able to work consistently and conveniently with all those involved in supporting children and young people.
Respond school therapists use a range of creative and conventional therapeutic approaches when working with children and young people. By using different creative mediums we aim to support the child in finding ways of self-expression that can lead to a healthier and happier life.
The service is managed by a project coordinator who works with parents/carers and offers a vital link with the school staff team involved in supporting the children Respond are working with.
Respond therapists work with children and young people for all sorts of reasons and the project coordinator will work with the school to decide if a referral is appropriate. Some of the reasons a child or young person may be referred to Respond include:
- Self-esteem difficulties
- Emotional/behavioural difficulties
- Domestic violence
- Social interaction difficulties
- Peer/adult relationship concerns
- Loss and bereavement
We are a specialist service with over 20 years of experience in working with children and adults with learning disabilities. All our therapists are accredited with a professional body and are supervised by an accredited supervisor who has worked in the field of learning disabilities for over 20 years.
Please contact Rob Morgan if you would like to discuss the Respond therapy service in more detail.
